If you are looking for a replacement that is going to hold up to your kids and dog the extruded frame is the way to go. With the thicker aluminum and the ribs for strength, the extruded screen door would be the best choice when you build a screen door.

When you are looking to build a screen door, you should also be aware of what kind of rollers you have. The most common Roller is nylon roller. These rollers will crack after being exposed to the weather. You would not be very happy with your new screen if right after you put it up the roller broke. If you want real quality and a longer lasting roller, you should use a door with ball bearing rollers.

With just a little re-manufacturing you can make a replacement screen door fit your frame. You save money by not having to buy a completely new patio door.
