Sliding screen door replacement

If you need a sliding screen door replacement because your existing screen door has seen better days, or perhaps you dont have one at all, you need to have a screen door replacement that is going to last.

The strongest sliding screen door replacement doors have thick extruded aluminum rails that wont bend in half when your german shepherd hits it going 100 mph after a squirrel. They also have ball bearing rollers and strong beefy die cast corners that keep the frame square and can stand up to being kicked off the rails. A screen door is often the most used door in the house, and its expected to work year after year, so you need a screen door replacement that will last many years.

Many screen doors are built for the lowest cost and it shows. Rollformed aluminum screen doors may last you a few years, but they easily weaken and can be bent often by someone trying to force them open. The aluminum in these doors is paper thin and quickly looses its tight grip on the screen door corners. When this happens, the door jams even if the rollers are still in good condition.

There are also replacement screen doors with plastic shoes that allow you to buy a door close to your required height and adjust the shoe to fit the opening height exactly. The thin plastic shoes have very cheap nylon rollers which will break very easily. The shoes themslves will break and work loose. Any thin vinyl that is exposed to the weather is bad news. It will become brittle and crack from exposure to sunlight. These doors will only last you a year at best.

Check my page about Fiberglass and Aluminum screen materials. It has information which will help you decide what is the best screen material to use for a new screen door.
