Screens for Garage Doors

Screens for garage doors are a new innovation that can really save you some money if you have always wanted a nice screen porch. By taking the cars out into the driveway and putting a screen over the garage door opening, you end up with a huge useable recreation space. You can barbecue, do work projects, let the kids play in a safe bug free environment. And when you are through, you can take the screen down and use the garage as before.

The simplest garage door screens are held up with velcro strips mounted all around the garage door opening. Its possible to to just roll these screens up and keep them installed and still be able to use the garage door as normal. This makes installation and removal even more simple. Most screens of this type use the regular black or grey fiberglas screening. They use flaps in the screen for doors just like a tent uses.

The fancier garage door screens are retractable and are intended to be permanently installed. These screens use rollers mounted above the garage door. When the screen is unrolled it slides in between the garage door track and the inside wall of the garage. The bottom is weighted to keep the screen tight, just like a huge window blind.

These screens tend to use more expensive "solar guard" screening, which not only blocks insects but provides privacy and blocks the suns harmful UV radiation. They offer many different colours of screen material and even custom printing of landscapes, murals, flags and emblems. Some of these screens cost almost as much as a new garage door, but still way less than a new screen porch.

Considering how inexpensive some of these screens are, its pretty much a win-win situation all around when you consider the benefits these screens provide.
