How to find Custom Screen Doors
There are times when you may need custom screen doors. The kids or the dog can tear up your screen door big time. Your local building supply may try to talk you into buying a whole new patio door, claiming that you just cant get custom screen doors built to fit your patio doorThere are two main frame styles for sliding screen doors. One is extruded aluminum and the other one is roll formed aluminum. The roll formed is more inexpensive to use and so builders use these to lower their costs. The problem is they aren't very durable and fall apart quite easily. You need a door that can last a long time and can take a beating. The extruded aluminum is much more durable for a custom screen door. These doors are constructed from material that is much thicker than the material used in the roll formed doors. Try to get the doors that have ball bearing rollers. Many of the screen doors have the rollers made from nylon, and these have a tendency to age easily and break. We have all had doors that were in good shape except for the rollers! The rollers made of steel are longer lasting and much more durable. They roll more easily too. The extruded aluminum doors may not stop a speeding Rottweiler, but they will last you for a reasonable length of time with the right care. You can buy kits for screen doors that are easily put together by you. The following instructions will show you how to put together an example of what one of these kits can be. Below are the parts that are included is the screen door kit: Two short rails for the horizontal direction. Two long rails for the vertical direction.4 ball bearing type rollers.1 handle for the screen door.4 corners of die cast aluminum.Along with these parts, you need a rubber mallet for assembly. Assembly Directions: Take the short rail and place a corner piece in each end hitting with the rubber mallet until the corner stops moving. This needs to fit snugly. Take one of the horizontal rails that have the corners installed, and attach one of the vertical sides using the rubber mallet to tap it together. Then put the other vertical side on. Then put the other horizontal on. Tap all the corners solidly together. When you complete putting the frame together, you can put in the rollers. Place the long spring end of the roller into the track of the rails that run horizontally. Then you will have to turn the roller toward the spring to get the pin to fit into the notch of the corner. Then let the roller go and it will go into place. Then press the roller to see if it moves down and up smoothly. This should give you an idea of how easy it is to assemble is a custom screen door.
