Assembly Instructions

Custom screen doors can be made for any size of sliding patio door or french door. Assembling the frames is not a difficult task.

After the frame is put together you just need to install the screen material. There is plenty of help on this website for that task.

Here is a list of parts that come in a knock-down screen door kit:

2 long vertical rails

2 short horizontal rails

4 strong injection molded corners

4 steel ball bearing rollers

1 screen door handle

1 roll of fiberglass screen cloth

20 feet of screen spline

1 spline inserting tool

8 feet of vinyl bugstrip

Tools Required:

Along with these parts you need a rubber mallet for knocking the frame together and an electric drill with a 3/32" drill bit to install the latch.

Assembly Instructions

Start by locating the 2 short aluminum rails and the 4 corners

Take the short rail and place a corner in each end hitting the corner with the rubber mallet until the corner will go no further. The corner needs to fit snugly. Repeat this procedure until you have all 4 corners installed into the ends of both short aluminum rails.

When you are finished you will have two rails as in in the picture above. These rails will become the top and bottom of your now screen door. Note that the rollers have already been installed in the rails at the factory.

Now take the 2 long aluminum rails and lay them on the ground. These are the sides of the screen door. Place on on the left and another on the right so that you can start to insert the corners from the top rail into each. Using the rubber mallet hammer everything together so the miter joints line up perfectly.

Repeat the procedure for the short bottom aluminum rail. You should now have completed the assembly of the frame.

Install the screen cloth before assembling the latch
