Automatic Pet Door
An automatic pet door has the ability to allow only your pet entry or exit to and from your home. This is a great advantage because regular pet doors left unlocked have no way to prevent other pets, raccoons and other small animals from getting into your home. Usually your pet wears a collar which is sensed by a receiver in the pet door which tells the door latch to unlock.Electronic Dog DoorsIf you are considering one of these doors, you need to plan out a source of electrical power for the door as well as the regular planning for its location. Electronic dog doors can be installed in wooden doors or brick walls. For installation in a wooden rear entry door, all that is required is a hole to be cut in the bottom half of the rear entry door. Then the pet door can be installed. The wiring for the electronic dog door will have to be located on the door so that the rear entry door can still operate easily.Wall Mounted Doggy DoorTo install the doogy door in an outside wall, a hole will have to be cut through the brickwork with a concrete saw. Then on the inside of the house some simple framing will have to be made to allow the pet door to be mounted. The door will also have to be tied in to the existing house electrical system.
Pet Doors on EBayI have included links below to auctions on EBay to various kinds of pet doors. Some feature latches watch unlock as your pet gets close to them and allow the pet to push a conventional pet flap open. Other types feature a sliding panel which retracts up into the housing when your pet gets close. Most of these doors are actuated by a special collar that comes with the door that only allows the door to open for your pet.
